JOIN US FOR THE FUTURE

What drives us is our mission to deliver energy for the world today, and to find solutions for tomorrow. If you want to make lives better around the world by providing access to energy, while working on sustainability and decarbonization, we’d like to hear from you. Working at BW you will feel the pulse of the world each day. If something happens in the world, we feel it, and you can play your part by anticipating and responding to it. Our high-performing teams are drawn to BW by the global nature of our work and the satisfaction of working with collaborative people who inspire each other to deliver exceptional results.

We are currently seeking:

Digital Summer Intern

BW LNG's IT and Digitalization team builds the digital backbone connecting our ships at sea with our teams onshore — from vessel infrastructure to AI-driven tools that help crew and shore staff make better decisions, faster. We run a small, hands-on team that works directly with operations, technical, and business stakeholders — not in a silo. You will get real ownership over solutions from idea to rollout, which means your work has visible impact fast. If you want exposure to both the practical realities of ship management and the technical challenges of digitalizing a global fleet, this is a rare place to get both.

Potential responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and deploy new features on our internal digital platform, taking ownership of specific modules from concept to production
  • Improve onshore and shipboard operations by leveraging digital solutions such as custom apps and AI agents
  • Develop and deploy applied AI tools that automate and support core business workflows
  • Support business users with data analytics, turning our high frequency vessel and operations data into actionable insight
  • Drive user adoption of our applications through training, user support and feedback gathering
  • Suggest how we best leverage available functionality in existing application portfolio
  • Actual tasks will depend on qualifications and departmental needs at the time.
Qualifications:
  • Current 3rd - or 4th - year student pursuing an MSc degree in Engineering or Business (e.g., Marine Technology, Computer Science, Industrial Economics, Physics and Mathematics, Business Analytics) with relevant studies covering information technology, informatics, cybernetics or equivalent
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Knowledge of AI and interest in how frontier technology can be applied in a business setting
  • Thrive on working closely with the business side and focus on generating value to our customers
  • General interest in marine technology, shipping or maritime sector is an advantage
  • High motivation and drive
  • Creative mindset with the ability to look for new solutions and way of doing things
  • Excellent communication skills, being able to explain complex technical issues to non-technical professionals
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with cultural awareness
  • Strong analytical mindset
We offer:
  • A challenging position and good opportunities for individual and professional development
  • An international and highly competent work environment
  • Hands-on experience with modern cloud tooling and AI-assisted development (Azure, CI/CD, frontier AI models)
  • A chance to get hands-on experience with one of the world’s leading maritime groups
  • The opportunity to work on real business cases that will be deployed and used in the organization

The position will be based in Oslo. The working period would be between May and August 2027, with some flexibility depending on university schedules. Relevant candidates may be contacted consecutively. There will be a background check undertaken by an external provider of the finalist.
