We are recruiting a Critical Facilities Technician to keep the power, cooling, monitoring and life-safety systems of a mission‑critical data‑centre facility in Norway operating safely and reliably.

You will work close to the plant: monitoring live systems, completing equipment rounds, carrying out controlled maintenance and responding to alarms before they threaten service continuity. This role suits a disciplined technician who documents work carefully, follows approved procedures and stays composed when equipment conditions change.

Your background may be electrical, mechanical, cooling, automation or industrial maintenance. Direct data‑centre experience is valuable, but experience in another continuously operated, high‑consequence facility can be equally relevant.

What you will do

• Monitor the condition and performance of electrical, mechanical and environmental systems through local inspections and site monitoring platforms.
• Complete plant rounds, capture equipment readings and flag abnormal temperature, pressure, noise, vibration or leakage trends.
• Respond to alarms and equipment faults using the approved escalation path and operating procedure.
• Complete planned maintenance and support safe, controlled recovery from equipment failures.
• Prepare work areas and site information for specialist contractors and equipment vendors, then verify that their work follows site controls.
• Use standard, maintenance and emergency operating procedures for every controlled activity.
• Apply permit‑to‑work, lockout/tagout and safe‑isolation requirements without shortcuts.
• Carry out or support switching, isolation and equipment testing only within your confirmed authorization.
• Escalate incidents, degraded redundancy and technical risks through the correct operational channels.
• Keep maintenance records, incident notes, plant readings and shift logs accurate enough for the next technician to act on.
• Assist with functional testing of UPS systems, standby generators and cooling plant.
• Support load‑bank tests and resilience exercises, including preparation, observation and post‑test records.
• Use BMS, EPMS or DCIM data to confirm plant status and investigate abnormal conditions.
• Deliver clear shift handovers that identify open alarms, inhibited systems, active permits and outstanding work.
• Support change‑control reviews and task risk assessments before work begins.
• Escort contractors in controlled areas and intervene when site procedures are not followed.
• Contribute operating evidence to root‑cause investigations and help turn findings into practical maintenance or procedure improvements.
• Maintain the safety, security, housekeeping and documentation standards expected in a live critical environment.

What you will bring

• Hands‑on training or experience in electrical, mechanical, cooling, automation or industrial maintenance.

• A structured approach to fault finding: confirm the symptom, protect the system, gather evidence and elevate at the right point.
• Working knowledge of permits, safe isolation and controlled maintenance activities.
• The discipline to follow detailed operating procedures and stop when conditions fall outside them.
• Confidence handling alarms and technical incidents without losing control of communication or documentation.
• Clear written shift notes and handovers that distinguish completed work from open risk.
• Availability for the confirmed shift pattern and any agreed on‑call coverage.
• Direct, professional communication with operators, contractors and equipment vendors.
• The right to work in Norway, or the ability to satisfy the assignment's confirmed work‑permit requirements.

Experience that would help

• Operations or maintenance experience in a data centre or other critical facility.
• UPS, generators, switchgear or electrical distribution.
• Chillers, pumps, refrigeration or HVAC.
• BMS, EPMS, SCADA or building automation.
• Experience in hospitals, telecom facilities, process plants, utilities, offshore installations, pharmaceutical facilities or other 24/7 environments.
• A Norwegian trade certificate or another relevant technical qualification.
• FSE training and appropriate electrical authorization.
• Norwegian‑language capability.
• Experience working shifts.

This is a facilities role

The role is centred on the plant that supplies power, cooling, controls and protection to the data hall. Server repair, structured cabling and general IT support alone do not demonstrate the required experience; applicants should identify any work they have completed on the supporting facility infrastructure.
