A leading international engineering and construction contractor is seeking an experienced Construction Logistics Manager to support the delivery of a major data centre project in Skien. The business delivers complex design and build projects across Europe, specialising in the data centre, pharmaceutical, logistics, food and advanced manufacturing sectors.
The Role
The Construction Logistics Manager will lead the planning and delivery of all site logistics activities, ensuring the efficient movement of labour, materials, plant and equipment. The role will work closely with construction, planning, commercial and procurement teams to ensure logistics operations support the programme safely and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the site logistics strategy.
- Plan the movement of labour, materials, plant and equipment throughout each project phase.
- Manage delivery booking systems, site access and traffic routes.
- Coordinate suppliers, subcontractors, hauliers and internal project teams.
- Support major equipment installations, including generators, transformers, chillers and prefabricated modules.
- Plan transportation, storage, laydown areas and material distribution.
- Ensure materials and equipment are available in line with programme requirements.
- Manage the use and positioning of key logistics assets, including hoists.
- Monitor inventory, storage capacity and material reconciliation.
- Identify logistics risks and resolve issues before they affect the programme.
- Manage general operatives and coordinate logistics resources.
- Support logistics budgets and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
- Secure relevant transportation and site‑access permits.
- Maintain organised, safe and accessible storage areas.
- Drive continuous improvement and reduce waste across logistics operations.
- Ensure all activities comply with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
Skills and Experience
- At least 10 years of construction logistics management experience.
- At least five years of experience on large industrial, infrastructure or hyperscale data centre projects.
- Proven experience managing complex logistics operations on live construction sites.
- Strong knowledge of site logistics planning, delivery management, supply‑chain coordination and traffic management.
- Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and logistics teams.
- Construction management qualification.
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification is desirable.
- Technical lifting or heavy‑equipment installation experience is advantageous.
- Strong leadership, planning and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
