Job summary

Charity People is partnering with a leading healthcare charity to recruit a Temporary Community Fundraising Coordinator in London. Hybrid role with two days in the office, full-time hours, and a December-focused workload including the Christmas Grotto.

You will support the Community Fundraising team by handling enquiries, stewarding fundraisers, managing inbox activity and delivering excellent supporter care throughout a busy period.

Community Fundraising Coordinator
Duration: Temporary, until approximately end of January / early February
Location: Hybrid - London, with 2 days per week in the office (typically Tuesday and Thursday)
Hours: Full-time, 9:00am-5:30pm
Pay: £17.69 per hour plus £2.14 per hour holiday pay
Start: ASAP / ideally by the end of October

Charity People is delighted to be partnering with a leading healthcare charity to recruit a Community Fundraising Coordinator to join their Community Fundraising team on a temporary basis.

The charity raises vital funds to support one of the UK’s largest and busiest NHS Foundation Trusts, helping to enhance care and support for patients, families and the communities it serves.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised, proactive and supporter-focused fundraiser to join a busy team at an important time of year, providing essential support across community fundraising, supporter care and upcoming Christmas activity.

About the role

Working as part of the Community Fundraising team, you’ll help ensure supporters receive an excellent experience while keeping day-to-day fundraising activity running smoothly.

It’s a varied, hands‑on role. You’ll respond to fundraising enquiries, support and steward new and existing fundraisers, help manage the team’s inbox and provide practical and administrative support wherever it’s most needed.

You’ll be joining during one of the busiest periods in the fundraising calendar, so we’re looking for somebody who is comfortable juggling priorities, enjoys getting stuck in and can quickly become a dependable member of the team.

A particularly important part of the assignment will be supporting the team’s Christmas Grotto activity from 7-11 December, so you’ll need to be available to work in person that week and provide event and office support as required.

Key responsibilities

You’ll support the team by:

• Monitoring the Community Fundraising inbox and responding to enquiries in a timely and professional way
• Providing excellent stewardship and supporter care to community fundraisers
• Supporting new fundraisers as they begin their fundraising journey
• Building positive relationships with supporters and helping deliver an excellent supporter experience
• Supporting the fulfilment of fundraising materials and other supporter requests
• Providing day‑to‑day administrative and operational support across Community Fundraising
• Helping the team manage competing priorities during a particularly busy fundraising period
• Supporting Community Fundraising Leads with activity, projects and supporter communications
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across fundraising and supporter care
• Maintaining accurate supporter information and using fundraising databases and systems effectively
• Supporting events and activities, including providing hands‑on support for the Christmas Grotto in December
• Helping develop effective processes, ways of working and supporter response templates where required
• Providing wider support to the Community Fundraising team as priorities evolve

About you

You’ll be someone who enjoys working with supporters and takes pride in providing a warm, responsive and professional service.

• Excellent attention to detail
• A proactive, flexible approach and willingness to get stuck in wherever support is needed
• The ability to work independently, use initiative and solve problems
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and databases/CRM systems
• The ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues, supporters and other stakeholders

Experience using Raiser’s Edge / NXT would be helpful, but isn’t essential. The team is happy to support someone in learning its systems and processes, so we’re particularly interested in your transferable fundraising and supporter care experience.

Hiring process

This is an urgent temporary requirement, and applications will be reviewed as they are received, so early applications are strongly encouraged.

The process is expected to involve two stages:

First stage: An online interview via Microsoft Teams.

Second stage: Likely to be an in‑person interview.

As part of the process, you may also be asked to complete a short practical exercise designed to reflect the role. This is likely to focus on prioritising competing tasks and drafting a supporter‑facing response to a fundraising enquiry.

We are hoping to move quickly and ideally have the successful candidate join the team by the end of October.
