Job summary

Silicon Labs in Oslo is seeking a Senior or Staff Hardware Engineer with a strong background in embedded systems design. You will own hardware development from architecture to prototype validation, including board design, schematics, and test automation.

The Team

The Hardware Tools team is a dedicated team of hardware engineers, partly located in Oslo, Norway. We are responsible for delivering world-class development tools for Silicon Labs’ current and future portfolio of wireless devices and microcontrollers.

Our tasks cover all aspects of hardware development, from design specification to following up our contract manufacturer, ensuring timely delivery of around 150 different development kit types to customers worldwide. We also design our own hardware infrastructure for circuit board production tests.

The Role

We are seeking a Senior or staff hardware engineer with a background in embedded systems design. Key responsibilities will be hardware development, from architecture development through schematic capture, PCB design, and prototype validation in the lab.

Education and Experience:

MS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent education) and 5+ years of professional experience in electronics design. An advanced degree or extensive relevant experience may reduce the minimum experience required.

Qualifications:

• Embedded system designer with deep knowledge of all phases of electronic circuit design, including manufacturing and production testing
• Experience/knowledge in low-power design techniques
• Knowledge of microcontrollers, wireless microcontrollers , and FPGAs
• Proficiency with schematic capture tools
• Experience with automation and scripting
• Genuine interest for development processes
• Good understanding of embedded software, or the desire to learn more about the interaction between hardware, firmware and software in an embedded system

It is an advantage if you have:

• Experience using Altium Designer
• Knowledge of programming languages like C and Python

The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between kr699,650 - kr1,299,350. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location where work will be performed and applicant’s skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus, equity package and a comprehensive benefits package.
