Job summary

The Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) invites applications for a permanent Associate Professor position in Economics within the School of Economics and Business. The successful candidate will pursue research, teach across bachelor’s, master’s and PhD programs, supervise theses, and engage in external research collaborations.

Required: PhD in economics or related field, strong publication record, and English communication skills.

About the position

The NMBU School of Economics and Business invites applications for a permanent position as Associate Professor in Economics.

We are looking for a candidate with strong academic competence in economics and an interest in applying economic analysis to important societal challenges. Relevant areas of expertise may include, but are not limited to, applied micro- or macroeconomics, public economics, taxation, environmental and resource economics, energy economics, behavioural economics, experimental economics, labour economics, development economics, econometrics and empirical policy analysis.

The successful candidate is expected to contribute actively to research, teaching and supervision at the bachelor’s, master’s and PhD level. The position includes responsibility for developing and teaching courses in economics and related fields; supervising student theses; publishing in high-quality academic journals; and contributing to externally funded research projects.

The candidate will also be expected to take part in the academic development of the School’s study programmes, online education, and research environment.

As an AACSB-accredited business school, we offer a dynamic and interdisciplinary academic environment with research and education in economics, business administration, innovation, entrepreneurship, and bioeconomy. We are seeking a colleague who can help strengthen our research profile in economics and contribute to research-based education that prepares students to understand and critically analyse economic decisions, markets, public policy and societal challenges.

Required qualifications

The applicant must have:

• A PhD in economics or related field relevant to theposition.
• Documented research competence andpublication record within economics.
• Educational competence in accordance with NMBU’s requirements for associate professors. Any missing educational competence must be acquired within two years of appointment.
• Good oral and written communication skills in English.

Qualifications considered an advantage

• Experience with applied research, policy analysis and interdisciplinary research, as well as externally funded research projects or research collaboration.
• Experience with courseand programme development, student-active learning and teaching across economics programmes.
• Experience with dissemination, collaboration with public authorities, research institutions,business or other external stakeholders.
• Experience with academic administration or institutional development.
• Good oral and written communication skills in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language.

Applicants who do not have Norwegian or another Scandinavian language competence at the time of employmentwill be required to obtain Norwegian language skills at B2 level within three years.

Terms and further information

The position is placed in position code 1011 Associate Professor (NOK NOK 720.000- 920.000) depending on qualifications. For particularly well-qualified applicants, a higher salary may be considered. Seniority promotion in the position. Exceptionally qualified candidates may apply for promotion to Professor after three months.
