About the position

The NMBU School of Economics and Business invites applications for a permanent position as Associate Professor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

We are looking for a candidate with strong academic competence in entrepreneurship and innovation, and an interest in applying research-based knowledge to new venture creation, innovation processes and organisational development. Particularly relevant areas of expertise include entrepreneurship, innovation management, business development and innovation for sustainable transitions.

The successful candidate is expected to contribute actively to research, teaching and supervision at the bachelor’s, master’s and PhD level. The position includes responsibility for developing and teaching courses within entrepreneurship, innovation and related fields; supervising student theses; publishing in high-quality academic journals; and contributing to externally funded research projects.

The candidate will also be expected to take part in the academic development of the School’s study programmes, online education, and research environment.

As an AACSB-accredited business school, we offer a dynamic and interdisciplinary academic environment with research and education in economics, business administration, innovation, entrepreneurship, and bioeconomy. We are seeking a colleague who can help strengthen our profile in entrepreneurship and innovation and contribute to research-based education that prepares students to understand, develop and lead innovation processes in private, public and third-sector organisations.

Main tasks

The main tasks of the position are to:

• Conduct high-quality research in entrepreneurship, innovation or related fields, and publish regularly in peer-reviewed academic journals.
• Teach and develop courses in entrepreneurship, innovation and related subjects, particularly linked to the master’s programme in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
• Supervise bachelor’s, master’s and PhD students, including thesis supervision in topics related to entrepreneurship, innovation processes and business development.
• Contribute to the continued development of the School’s study programmes, research environment and profile in entrepreneurship and innovation.
• Apply for and contribute to externally funded research projects, including interdisciplinary projects relevant to NMBU’s profile.
• Collaborate with start-ups, established businesses, public organisations and other external stakeholders.
• Contribute to administrative tasks and other shared activities at the School together with colleagues and students.

Required qualifications

The applicant must have:

• A PhD in entrepreneurship, innovation, business administration,economics or a closely related field relevant to entrepreneurship and innovation, or equivalent competence documented through academic work of the same scope and quality.
• Documented research competence and publication record within entrepreneurship, innovation or other related fields relevant to the position.
• Educational competence in accordance with NMBU’s requirements for associate professors. Any missing educational competence must be acquired within two years of appointment.
• Good oral and written communication skills inNorwegian or another Scandinavian language, as well as in English.

Qualifications considered an advantage

• Experience with empirical, practice-oriented, and interdisciplinary research, as well as in externally funded research projects or research collaboration.
• Experience with course and programme development, student-active learning, case-based teaching, or collaboration with external partners in education.
• Experience with dissemination, collaboration with businesses, public organisations, innovation support bodies, or other external stakeholders.
• Experience with academic administration or institutional development.
• Experience from startup companies.

Terms and further information

The position is placed in position code 1011 Associate Professor (NOK NOK720.000-920.000)depending on qualifications. For particularly well-qualified applicants, a higher salary may be considered. Seniority promotion in the position. Exceptionally qualified candidates may apply for promotion to Professor after three months.
