Job summary

UiT The Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø seeks a three-year fixed-term Associate Professor focused on snow science and geohazards. You will conduct high-impact research, teach at multiple levels, supervise students, and build external collaborations within a vibrant Arctic research community.

The role requires a PhD in a relevant field, strong fieldwork capabilities, and the ability to secure external funding.

Qualifications

• PhD in geosciences, physics, mathematics or closely related field.
• Demonstrated publication record in snow science or geohazards.
• Experience with field-based research in snowy terrain.

Responsibilities

• Conduct high-quality research strengthening UiT’s snow science portfolio.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and lead field courses.
• Supervise MSc and PhD students and build external networks.
• Secure external funding and disseminate research to diverse audiences.
