Job summary

TietoBanktech is seeking an AI Engineer to design, build and operate cloud services, APIs and integrations behind banking services in Oslo. You will work with backend engineers, designers and product managers to turn AI opportunities into secure, valuable capabilities for banks and customers.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering with a strong backend focus, pursuing practical AI patterns and secure solutions within a cross-functional team. Hybrid work is offered.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of building and operating production software.
• Experience in data analysis, ML/AI to create business value.
• Backend engineering with APIs, integrations, and scalable services.
• Experience with automated delivery, monitoring and troubleshooting in production.

We are looking for a AIengineer to join ourKYC Caseteamin Front&Advisoryin TietoBanktech.TietoBanktechpowers some of the Nordics’ most trusted banking systems with secure, reliable, and scalable solutions. Using automation, data, AI, and cloud, supported by hands‑on guidance, we help banks modernize their core, strengthen trust, and deliver greater impact across the banking experience.

This is a hands‑on engineering role with a strong backend focus. You will help us design, build and operatecloudservices, APIs and integrationsbehind our banking services.

TietoBanktechis on a strategic journey to embed artificial intelligence at the core of our products and engineering practices, and80%of the total investments are AI-driven.You will work closely with backend engineers, designers and product managers to turn relevant AI opportunities into secure, reliable and valuable capabilities for banks and their customers.Our solutions will utilizein-houseAI infrastructurebuilt by ourcore AI team,which includesPhDs with backgrounds from Google, YouTube, and Microsoft.

When joining TietoBanktechas an AI Engineer you will

• Work in a cross-functional autonomous team with ownership of a well-defined domain
• Identify where AI can create real value in banking products and engineering practices
• Shape practical patterns, architectures and best practices for secure and reliable AI-enabled solutions
• Use AI-assisted workflows to understand, analyze and modernize existing technology
• Help teams evaluate new tools and adopt AI-supported workflows across development, testing and operations
• Take solutions from prototype to production, including architecture, integration, testing and operational readiness
• Continuously improve solutions with a focus on quality, security, performance, reliability, observability and cost

Who we are looking for

• Software development: Minimum five years of experience developing and operating production software.
• Data analysis and applied AI: Experience analyzing and interpreting data, identifying meaningful patterns and opportunities, and applying machine learning and AI technologies to create practical business value.
• Backend engineering: Experience with object-oriented development, APIs, integrations and scalable service architectures.
• CI/CD and operations: Experience with automated delivery, monitoring, observability and production troubleshooting.
• Security and privacy: Experience with secure data handling and the responsible use of AI in regulated environments.

You are a collaborative and pragmatic engineer who takes ownership and enjoys solving complex problems. You are comfortable working across disciplines and can connect technical decisions with customer value, security, privacy and regulatory expectations in banking.

It is a bonus if you have experience with

• Java and Spring or Spring Boot
• Databases (Oracle)
• OpenShift or Kubernetes, Git, GitHub Actions and Grafana
• Experience with design, development and maintenance of backend services, APIs and integrations
• Large language model integration, context and prompt design, and evaluation of AI outputs
• Retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector databases or related retrieval patterns
• Agentic workflows, function calling or AI orchestration frameworks
