Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Workday Financials Project Manager to lead the end-to-end implementation and digital transformation of our financial systems. This critical role involves migrating our parent organization and all global/domestic subsidiaries from legacy ERPs to the Workday platform.
The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between finance, IT, and executive leadership, ensuring that the Foundational Data Model (FDM) is architected to support complex insurance reporting (including IFRS 17/LDTI), multi-entity consolidations, and rigorous audit requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Project Leadership
- Define the implementation roadmap, including the phased rollout strategy for all subsidiaries and business units.
- Manage the full project lifecycle: Planning, Design (Architect), Configuration (Configure & Prototype), Testing (User Acceptance, End-to-End), and Deployment.
- Direct a cross-functional team of internal stakeholders, Workday implementation partners, and third-party consultants.
2. Insurance-Specific Financial Oversight
- Oversee the design of the Foundational Data Model (FDM) to ensure it captures granular policy-level data and supports insurance-specific needs like Deferred Acquisition Costs (DAC) and premium spreads.
- Ensure the system is configured to handle complex intercompany transactions and eliminations across multiple legal entities.
- Partner with Tax and Regulatory teams to ensure compliance with insurance accounting standards and SOX controls.
3. Data & Systems Integration
- Lead the strategy for data migration from various legacy systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or proprietary sub-ledgers) into Workday, ensuring data integrity and lineage.
- Coordinate integrations with industry-specific upstream systems (Policy Administration Systems, Claims Management, and Actuarial tools).
4. Change Management & Governance
- Serve as the primary liaison for the Steering Committee, providing transparent reporting on milestones, budget health, and "RAID" (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) logs.
- Drive organizational readiness by overseeing training programs and communication plans tailored to different subsidiary cultures and local requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 7+ years of Project Management experience, with at least 2 full-lifecycle Workday Financials implementations completed at an enterprise level.
- Industry Knowledge: Proven background in the Insurance or Financial Services sector, with a deep understanding of multi-entity global consolidations.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong familiarity with Workday FINS modules (General Ledger, Business Assets, Expenses, Procurement, and Financial Reporting).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Information Systems.
- Certifications: PMP or PRINCE2 certification is highly preferred. Workday Pro or implementation certifications are a significant plus.
Preferred Skills
- Analytical Mindset: Ability to translate complex insurance accounting requirements into Workday-functional configurations.
- Conflict Resolution: Experience managing "scope creep" and competing priorities between different subsidiaries.
- Communication: Exceptional executive presence with the ability to explain technical ERP concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Success Metrics
- On-Time Delivery: Successful go-live for all subsidiaries according to the staggered roadmap.
- Data Accuracy: Zero critical reconciliatory issues between legacy sub-ledgers and the Workday GL.
- User Adoption: High proficiency ratings from finance teams across all business units within 90 days post-launch.
