Job summary

Picnic is seeking a UX Researcher to collaborate with data analysts, product owners, and designers to shape the end-to-end user experience of Picnic’s products. You’ll guide users through prototypes, run hands-on research, and communicate insights weekly to diverse teams.

The role involves alternating between hands-on research and analysis of user behavior, with a focus on testing hypotheses and improving in-app customer service and delivery experiences. On-site fulltime at Picnic offices.

Qualifications

• MSc degree in a relevant field such as Industrial Design, HCI Design or Product Design.
• 0-3 years of experience as UX Researcher.
• Analytical eye; familiarity with Excel and data visualization.
• Ability to reason at a high level about business and technical concepts.
• Excellent communicator and able to present insights succinctly.
• Agile mindset and willingness to learn on the go.
• Creativity and detail-oriented approach.
• Affinity for digital design is a plus.
• Fluent in Dutch and English; German or French is a plus.
• Open and available to work on-site fulltime.

Job description

As our UX researcher, you will work collaboratively with Data Analysts, Product Owners, and Designers to develop the full user experience of Picnic’s products. With an open personality, you’re able to empathize with end-users on a weekly basis, whether that’s by guiding users through prototypes or investigating a new topic.

Half of the week, you initiate, plan and execute hands‑on research activities. The other half is used to observe and analyse user behaviour and communicate those insights effectively to various teams and stakeholders. You experiment with research approaches to answer important questions. How can we make in‑app customer service more accessible? How do customers decide what to eat? How can we make delivering our groceries safer for our runners? Every week presents new challenges to explore, frame and evaluate. Understanding both the big picture and the details, you examine insights from unique angles to bring a deeper understanding of customer experience and provide testable hypotheses.

Your superpowers

MSc. degree in a relevant field, such as Industrial Design, Human Computer Interaction Design or Product Design

0-3 years of experience as UX Researcher

Analytical eye: You’re not a data wizard, but you’re familiar with Excel and know how to visualise and interpret data

Ability to reason on high level about various topics, to quickly understand and discuss both business and technical concepts

Excellent communicator: You know how to strike up a conversation with anyone and know how to present insights succinctly

Flexibility: Agile approach and ability to learn on the go

Creativity: Outside-the box thinking and passion for details

Affinity for or previous experience with digital design is a plus

Fluency in both Dutch and English. German and French are a plus
