Job summary

Picnic Technologies is hiring a Front-End Engineer (React / React Native) to help unify our store across web and mobile platforms. You will work with React daily, contribute to our server-driven UI framework, and collaborate with designers and product owners to deliver new features.

Amsterdam-based with options for limited remote work. You’ll join a fast-growing team with a strong focus on TypeScript, testing, and scalable frontend architectures.

Front-End Engineer (React / React Native) – Store & Web

At Picnic, we're revolutionising the way people buy groceries with our affordable and sustainable grocery service. We do almost everything in-house, developing cutting-edge technologies and processes to ensure we continue to grow rapidly without missing a beat.

In all our customer-facing products, we use React. Our mobile application uses React Native, combined with our home‑grown server‑driven UI framework . We have ambitious plans to unify our mobile and web applications into a single platform. Quality is our top priority, so we use TypeScript across the board.

About the role

We are looking for driven front‑end engineers to help us bring the grocery shopping revolution to millions of customers. In this role, in addition to working with React daily you'll be working with our powerful server‑driven UI framework that's at the heart of our business's success:

Powers our entire shopping app and enables rapid iterations

Drives sophisticated personalization at scale, delivering tailored content to each user

Empowers our business teams to operate the store autonomously - dozens of operators and analysts make every day real‑time updates without any further tech involvement

Tricks of the trade

Growth: Work with cross‑functional teams across the entire business, pick up increasingly challenging tasks and projects, and have ownership over your contributions

Contribution: Work on our customer‑facing Picnic store, implementing new features on a daily basis, and contribute to our React Native architecture and server‑driven UI framework

Collaboration: Collaborate with designers and product owners to create specifications for new features

Our Tech: React, React Native, TypeScript and RxJS, Redux, Styled Components, Jest, NextJS, Storybook

Experience in shipping applications

A willingness and desire to work with a variety of technologies

Hands‑on experience with (unit) testing

Enthusiasm to work with a variety of technologies and a problem‑solving mindset

The confidence to transform business requirements into a technical plan

You're based in or happy to relocate to the Netherlands. We work from our office in Amsterdam full‑time. There's flexibility to work from home when needed, but if remote or hybrid‑first is what you're after, this probably isn't the right fit.
