Job summary

Vale Base Metals is seeking a Mining Engineer for the Coleman Mine in Sudbury to join the Mines Technical Services team. The role focuses on mid-range designs (block plans) and supporting weekly IOS functions, ensuring safe, efficient and cost-effective operations.

The ideal candidate has a mining engineering degree, 4+ years of experience, and familiarity with Deswik. P.Eng. is preferred. This permanent role offers competitive pay and a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering.
• Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng.) is preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years mine engineering experience.
• Deswik knowledge is an asset.
• Cash flow modeling techniques and mineral economics knowledge is an asset.
• Microsoft Office Suite proficiency; Excel advanced skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide mining engineering support to an existing team of geologists, mining engineers, and geotechnical engineers.
• Participate in the design, evaluation and support of underground mining operations.
• Design stoping boundaries for long-term evaluations based on geotechnical guidance to maximize ore recovery.
• Mentor others in the Mines Technical Services team.
• Review work and provide feedback within the team.
• Collaborate with operations to ensure plans are safe, efficient and realistic.
• Create schedules for development and production by sequencing stopes and headings with approvals.
• Maintain safety focus in line with MTS Safety Plan.
• Identify opportunities for safety, productivity and cost improvements.
