Job description

We are currently looking for a Technical Team Lead to join the team in Delft.

Satellite operations are becoming increasingly complex. With more satellites, more diverse missions, and growing demands for automation and operational efficiency, mission operators require ground segment solutions that are flexible, scalable, and easy to adapt. Traditional ground segment solutions are often highly customised for individual missions, limiting scalability and increasing operational complexity.

At S&T, we are changing this by developing a modular, software-first ground segment platform that combines reusable building blocks for mission planning, tasking, satellite operations, monitoring, and data workflows. Our ambition is to create a scalable operational environment that enables efficient management of current and future satellite missions, reduces complexity, and accelerates mission deployment across civil, commercial, and Defence applications.

You will be working within the Defence & Security business unit, where we are working on innovative solutions that leverage space technologies. You will focus on the domain of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR). Here we make satellite mission control software, work on EU consortium satellite data related platforms and provide intelligent solutions for processing Earth Observation data onboard satellites and on the ground.

Main responsibilities

This position offers the opportunity to enhance your technical, project management, and leadership skills. You will work alongside the program manager to lead an enthusiastic team within a dynamic, high-tech organization, gaining valuable experience and contributing to meaningful developments.

  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams, ensuring collaboration, growth, and performance.
  • Oversee the successful planning and execution of complex technical projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality.
  • Actively contribute to the development and implementation of our technology roadmaps.
  • Actively contribute to internal improvements regarding technology management such as standards, portfolio management, etc.
  • Act as a key point of contact for stakeholders, building strong relationships internally and externally.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Aerospace engineering, Computer Science, Applied Physics or a related technical field, or extensive work experience equivalent to these qualifications.
  • Experience with software product development and managing complex digital solutions.
  • Relevant technical expertise in satellite operations, mission control systems, ground segment architectures, Earth Observation or related space technologies.
  • Strong people management skills, with the ability to inspire, guide, and develop teams.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including software engineers, architects, data scientists, FPGA engineers and customers.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing. Speaking Dutch is highly preferred.
  • Affinity with working for Defence. Possibility to obtain security clearances (Dutch, NATO, EU) is a must.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary between €5,000 – €7,000 gross/month (based on experience, full-time)
  • The opportunity to work on innovative technologies with real operational impact.
  • Challenging projects within the Defence & Security domain.
  • Collaboration with highly skilled engineers and domain experts.
  • A modern and flexible working environment.
  • The opportunity to contribute to solutions that help protect people, infrastructure, and society.
  • An yearly fun trip abroad with the entire company!
