Technical Support Specialist – Offshore Wind (Vestas / Technical Troubleshooting)
As a Technical Support Specialist within an offshore wind service organization, you will act as the technical point of contact for offshore service technicians working on Vestas wind turbines. You will use your hands‑on turbine experience and strong troubleshooting skills to analyse complex technical issues, support remote fault finding, and ensure technicians have the right information, tools, and spare parts to carry out repairs safely and efficiently.
Working primarily from the IJmuiden office during regular Monday‑to‑Friday hours, you will combine technical expertise with clear communication and practical problem‑solving. You will occasionally travel offshore to support complex malfunctions and provide direct technical assistance in the field.
What will you do?
- Act as the first point of contact for offshore technicians regarding complex technical malfunctions and troubleshooting.
- Analyse error messages and technical data from Vestas wind turbines and determine suitable remote troubleshooting solutions.
- Provide clear, practical technical instructions to service technicians in the field.
- Review feedback from technicians and define appropriate follow‑up actions.
- Identify the required spare parts, tools, and equipment needed to complete repairs.
- Support technicians in preparing for maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
- Draft, update, and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and troubleshooting instructions.
- Analyse recurring technical issues and translate field data into concrete improvement measures.
- Collaborate closely with offshore technicians, engineering teams, planning, and other technical stakeholders.
- Support the resolution of complex turbine failures and contribute to continuous improvement of service processes.
- Occasionally work offshore on complex malfunctions, including 12‑hour shifts when required.
- Share technical knowledge and support the development of technicians and the wider service organization.
- Ensure troubleshooting and technical support activities are performed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
What do you bring?
- Proven experience as a Service Technician, Troubleshooter, or Technical Support Specialist working with Vestas wind turbines.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Vestas turbines, preferably V80.
- Experience troubleshooting complex turbine malfunctions and analysing technical error messages.
- Strong understanding of wind turbine systems, maintenance, fault finding, and repair processes.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a practical, solution‑oriented approach.
- Ability to translate complex technical information into clear and practical instructions for field technicians.
- Experience supporting technicians remotely or providing technical assistance from an office environment is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Accurate and structured way of working with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a technical team.
- Experience with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Willingness to occasionally work offshore for complex technical issues.
- A strong interest in supporting colleagues and sharing technical knowledge.

Working model: Office-based, Monday–Friday, with occasional offshore deployment
