Job summary

Autonomai Recruitment is seeking a Technical Project Manager – Telecommunications to deliver fibre, data centre interconnects, and carrier connectivity for a high-performance trading environment in Amsterdam.

You will lead cross-functional delivery across data centres, trading venues, offices, and cloud, coordinating engineers, carriers, and suppliers to meet stringent latency, security, and availability standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience in telecommunications, network infrastructure, carrier services, connectivity engineering, or technical project management.
  • A degree in telecommunications, electrical engineering, or computer science.
  • Strong knowledge of data centre and telecoms infrastructure (fibre, WAN, LAN, IP networking).
  • Experience delivering large-scale infrastructure programmes.
  • Experience managing multiple technical workstreams, suppliers, risks, dependencies, and deadlines.
  • Understanding of highly available, resilient, low-latency connectivity in performance-critical environments.
  • Excellent communication across engineering, operations, procurement, suppliers, and leadership.
  • Structured, pragmatic approach with bias for action.
  • Ownership and judgement to progress when the path isn’t fully defined.
  • Experience with international network deployments is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end delivery of critical telecommunications and network infrastructure programmes.
  • Deliver fibre circuits, carrier connectivity, data centre interconnects, WAN, LAN, IP networking, optical transport, and related services.
  • Drive projects from initial requirements and design through procurement, installation, testing, deployment, and operational handover.
  • Coordinate engineers, infrastructure teams, carriers, data centre providers, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Build clear delivery plans, manage dependencies, track milestones, and remove blockers.
  • Own project risks, issues, budgets, change control, governance, and executive reporting.
  • Hold suppliers accountable for technical delivery, service performance, and agreed timelines.
  • Lead migrations, network upgrades, new site deployments, circuit turn-ups, and infrastructure decommissions.
  • Define acceptance criteria, test plans, rollback procedures, monitoring requirements, and support documentation.
  • Ensure every solution meets demanding standards for resilience, availability, performance, security, scalability, and latency.

Role: Technical Project Manager – Telecommunications

Build the Connectivity Behind High-Performance Trading. We are looking for a Technical Project Manager to deliver the telecommunications and network infrastructure that powers a high-performance trading environment.

You will lead complex connectivity programmes across data centres, trading venues, offices, and cloud environments. Working with engineers, carriers, suppliers, and senior stakeholders, you will turn technical requirements into resilient, high-speed infrastructure that performs when milliseconds matter.

What You’ll Do

What You Bring
  • Experience in telecommunications, network infrastructure, carrier services, connectivity engineering, or technical project management.
  • A degree in telecommunications, electrical engineering, computer science,

  • A track record of delivering complex, large-scale infrastructure or telecommunications programmes.
  • Experience managing multiple technical workstreams, suppliers, risks, dependencies, and deadlines.
  • An understanding of highly available, resilient, and low-latency connectivity in performance-critical environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work across engineering, operations, procurement, suppliers, and senior leadership.
  • A structured, pragmatic approach and a strong bias for action.
  • The ownership, drive, and judgement to make progress even when the path is not fully defined.
You’ll Stand Out If You Have
  • Experience in proprietary trading, hedge funds, investment banking, market data, exchange connectivity, or financial services. (Not a must have)
  • Knowledge of colocation, cross-connects, dark fibre, market data networks, or financial extranets.
  • Experience delivering international network deployments across multiple data centres and trading venues.
  • Familiarity with DWDM, MPLS, SD-WAN, BGP, network monitoring, or carrier management.
  • Experience working with telecoms providers, dark fibre operators, data centre providers, or managed network service providers.
  • A project or programme management qualification such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile.
