Job summary

EControls Europe, based in Delfgauw, the Netherlands, is the European subsidiary of EControls, LLC (based in San Antonio, TX, USA). We design and deliver advanced engine control systems and fleet management solutions for industrial vehicles, such as forklifts and construction machines. Our goal is to help companies improve efficiency, reduce emissions, and keep their fleets running safely and reliably.

OptaFleet, a brand-independent fleet management system that works with many different types of industrial vehicles. It gives companies real-time insights into how their vehicles are being used, helps improve driver safety, and reduces downtime and costs. OptaFleet combines rugged, industrial-grade hardware with an easy-to-use online platform, making it simple for customers to manage their fleets from anywhere.

About the Role

We are looking for a Technical Product Manager – OptaFleet to join our OptaFleet team.

In this role, you will act as the link between our customers, engineering team, and production. You will help shape the future of the OptaFleet platform by translating customer needs into product improvements, supporting new product releases, and ensuring our hardware and software solutions deliver maximum value to customers.

This is a broad, hands‑on position that combines product management, technical support, testing, and engineering. While product management is your primary focus, the balance between customer‑facing activities and technical development can be tailored to your experience, expertise, and interests.

Key Responsibilities
Product Management
  • Act as the technical owner of the OptaFleet product portfolio.
  • Gather customer feedback and market requirements and translate them into product improvements.
  • Define, prioritize, and coordinate new product features together with the development team.
  • Support product roadmap planning and release preparation.
  • Monitor product performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Customer & Technical Support
  • Provide second-line technical support for customers and distributors.
  • Support customer installations and system integrations.
  • Deliver product demonstrations, customer training, and technical presentations.
  • Assist customers in optimizing their use of the OptaFleet platform.
Product Development & Quality
  • Coordinate testing of new hardware, firmware, and web portal releases.
  • Support product certification activities, including CE and FCC compliance.
  • Validate new features before product release.
  • Analyze warranty returns and quality issues and drive corrective actions.
  • Analyze SQL database data to troubleshoot customer issues and identify product improvements.
  • Help optimize production and operational workflows.
Documentation & Knowledge Management
  • Maintain product documentation and knowledge base articles.
  • Ensure documentation remains aligned with product releases.
Qualifications & Skills

We're looking for a proactive professional who enjoys taking ownership, solving technical challenges, working with customers, and contributing to the development of innovative products.

Preferred qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, IT, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with technical products involving hardware, software, IoT, telematics, or industrial automation.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Product Management, Technical Support, Software Testing, Systems Engineering, Customer Success.
  • Experience with SQL and data analysis is an advantage.
  • Affinity with both hardware and software products.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with customers, engineers, and production teams.
  • Good command of spoken and written English. Proficiency in Dutch is a plus.
  • Driving licence.
