Job summary

Budget Thuis seeks a Tech Lead Platform Engineering to own the internal developer platform used by product teams. You will guide architecture, make design calls, and ensure technical quality across a hybrid Kubernetes environment spanning cloud and on-prem.

You will lead with depth in platform engineering, push for self-service, and drive adoption through practical value while coaching engineers and maintaining robust security and observability practices.

Qualifications

• Senior, hands-on background as a platform/infrastructure/DevOps lead.
• Deep Kubernetes experience and platform-as-product mindset.
• Hybrid, multi-cluster experience across cloud and on-prem.
• GitOps and infrastructure as code: Git as source of truth, reconciliation, promotion models and safe secrets handling.
• Platform security fundamentals: multi-tenancy isolation, policy-as-code, RBAC and secure-by-default paved roads.
• Observability as first-class: logs, metrics, traces, SLOs and error budgets out of the box.
• Technical leadership without formal management: set direction and enable others.
• Clear communication that translates to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of the platform and its architecture.
• Set the bar on code reviews, testing and operational readiness.
• Ensure operational excellence: SLOs, observability, reliability, incident learning.
• Design golden paths and self-service to reduce tickets.
• Plan migration of workloads from VMs to Kubernetes with rollback paths.
• Collaborate with infrastructure team and drive adoption by app teams.
• Coach and unblock engineers to avoid single points of failure.
