Job description

From our office in Essen (Belgium), we manage a global fleet of highly skilled offshore personnel, making sure we have the right people on board our vessels, anywhere in the world, at exactly the right time.

To strengthen our Crewing Department, we are looking for a Team Lead Learning & Development (L&D) Crew.

Your role

This is a hands‑on leadership role, combining operational responsibility with team leadership. You remain closely involved in planning, coordination and follow‑up, while acting as the first escalation point for more complex cases. You ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations, support your team, and drive continuous improvement in how training is organised worldwide.

What are the tasks of the Team Lead Learning & Development Crew?

As a Team Lead L&D Crew, your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Develop and deliver the operational plan for the continuous improvement (CI) objectives for L&D Crew processes, systems and crew related performance metrics.
  • Work closely with fellow Crewing Team Leads to ensure alignment and effective collaboration across the department.
  • Act as the first point of contact for complex training, certification or planning issues.
  • Support and coach the L&D Crew Specialists in their day‑to‑day activities.
  • Prioritise workload and ensure a balanced and efficient distribution of tasks.
  • Monitor training compliance, certification validity, deadlines, and potential risks.
  • Collaborate with vessels, discipline leads and HR to align on training requirements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external training providers and monitor service quality.
  • Ensure clear and consistent communication towards stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and oversee training planning for assigned vessels.
  • Ensure that all certifications remain valid and compliant with applicable regulations.
What we expect from you

To succeed in this role, you should recognise yourself in most of the following profile:

  • Experience in a Learning & Development Crew, Crewing, HR or planning‑related environment.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to maintain oversight in a dynamic setting.
  • A natural ability to guide and support others (prior formal leadership experience is advantageous but not essential).
  • Confidence in handling complex cases and taking ownership of challenging situations.
  • A hands‑on, structured and solution‑oriented approach.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across functions and with offshore teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Willing to occasionally travel to vessels or external partners worldwide.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken; Dutch is an advantage.
What we offer

Working at Allseas means being part of a company delivering some of the most complex offshore projects in the world, where innovation, precision and teamwork drive exceptional results. You will work alongside highly skilled colleagues in an environment that values ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement. We offer you the opportunity to grow, develop your capabilities, and make a meaningful impact within a forward‑thinking organisation.

In addition, you can expect:

  • A competitive salary in line with your experience, collective health insurance, hospitalisation insurance, eco‑cheques, and one of the best pension plans on the market.
  • An international working environment in a historic building, combining character with a global outlook.
  • A supportive, informal and collaborative team culture.
  • Opportunities for personal and professional development through training, study budgets, and coaching.
  • A strong focus on work‑life balance, including flexible working hours (start between 07:00h - 10:00h) and a 38‑hour work week, allowing you to finish earlier on Fridays.
  • Recognition as a World-Class Workplace, based entirely on employee feedback.
