Job summary

Nearfield Instruments is seeking a Senior Business Controller to drive financial performance and strategic decision-making in a fast-growing tech scale-up in Rotterdam. You will advise the CFO and Leadership team, shaping profitability and governance across the organization.

You will manage budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning, provide deep financial analysis, and partner with senior leadership on business cases and investments, while maintaining NL GAAP and IFRS compliance.

Qualifications

• Completed HBO/university degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or similar.
• 7+ years of experience in business control or financial management in a tech-driven or international environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of NL GAAP and IFRS.
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills and experience with ERP systems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Proactive, hands-on mentality with a strategic mindset; good with change.
• Full-time availability at our Rotterdam office.

Responsibilities

• Lead budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning processes.
• Provide in-depth financial analysis and actionable insights for decisions.
• Act as sparring partner for senior leadership on business cases and investments.
• Monitor and improve KPIs, margins and cost structures across departments.
• Drive financial process optimization and scalable best practices.
• Manage risk assessments and ensure NL GAAP and IFRS compliance.
• Support cross-functional projects including pricing strategies and operational efficiency.
• Prepare clear, data-driven reports for management and stakeholders.
