Job summary

Leonid Group is partnering with a leading global industrial manufacturing organisation to appoint a European Trade Compliance Leader who will own the regional strategy across multiple European jurisdictions. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on expertise in customs, export controls and sanctions, shaping a modern, commercially integrated trade compliance function and driving value across Europe.

Hybrid working with three days onsite per week is expected.

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years in Trade Compliance, Customs, Export Controls or Intl Trade in a multinational setting.
• Strong knowledge of EU customs legislation and export controls / sanctions.
• Experience across multiple European jurisdictions in a complex manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to develop or enhance trade compliance programmes and internal controls.
• Strategic, commercially minded with ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience with SAP or global trade management systems is advantageous.
• Fluent English is essential; additional European language is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the European trade compliance strategy aligned with global standards.
• Develop and strengthen a consistent compliance framework across European entities.
• Oversee customs compliance including tariff classification, valuation, origin, authorisations, broker mgmt.
• Lead regional export controls and sanctions compliance including licensing and risk assessments.
• Drive process harmonisation, digitalisation and continuous improvement across activities.
• Partner with senior stakeholders across manufacturing, engineering, procurement, supply chain, finance and legal.
• Lead compliance risk assessments, audits, investigations, remediation and training.
