Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine in Groningen, Netherlands, seeks a Staff R&D Scientist to advance intraocular lens design and metrology within the Vision program. The role focuses on new concepts, test methods, and close collaboration with European research institutes and cross-functional teams.

The position offers a 2-year contract with potential extension, a strong research environment, and opportunities to contribute to cutting-edge ophthalmic technologies at J&J MedTech.

Qualifications

• PhD in Optics, Physics or Vision Science, or Mechanical Modelling.
• Preferably 5 or more years of relevant experience.
• Proficient in optical design principles, using Zemax, OSLO or other design tools to design and simulate optical systems.
• Has good level contacts regarding project and program definition.
• Demonstrated research experience and interest in technology development.

Responsibilities

• Participate in development of new concepts for medical devices from ideation to market phase.
• Lead design and development of intraocular lenses and optical metrology.
• Develop test methods and validation systems for intraocular lenses.
• Lead requirements development, design documentation, and protocol/report writing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and research institutes in Europe and the USA.
