Job summary

Johnson & Johnson in Groningen seeks a Staff Scientist to lead the development of intraocular lenses and optical metrology from ideation through validation and market readiness. You will develop test methods, write protocols and collaborate with European research institutes as well as USA groups in a multidisciplinary R&D setting.

You will contribute to IP strategy, stay ahead of competing technologies and actively participate in expert networks to advance innovative medical devices.

Qualifications

• PhD in optics, physics or vision science.
• Preferably 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficient in optical design using Zemax/OSLO.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop concepts for unique medical devices from ideation to market.
• Lead design and development of intraocular lenses and optical metrology.
• Develop test methods and validation systems for lenses.
• Lead requirements development, protocols and reports.
• Collaborate with European research institutes and US groups.
• Participate in expert networks and grant proposals.
• Support IP strategy and monitor external technologies.
