Job summary

Discord in Amsterdam is seeking a Staff Privacy Engineer to shape privacy in products and operations. You will lead the privacy roadmap across engineering, product, and legal, driving automation and system design as the senior privacy voice in architecture reviews, product design, and incident response for Europe.

Drive collaboration with teams in Lisbon and Amsterdam, conduct DPIAs, RoPA, and ensure compliance with Discord's Privacy Principles and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in technical privacy or adjacent engineering roles.
• Led significant privacy initiatives end-to-end (PETs, data classification, RoPA).
• Owns technical roadmaps translating regulatory requirements into action.
• Deep GDPR knowledge and broader privacy regulatory landscape (CPRA/CPPA, EU AI Act).
• Experience automating privacy compliance at scale (DPIAs, RoPA, vendor risk).
• Automation of evidence collection and program workflows (Python, AI tooling).
• Excellent written communication; able to influence senior stakeholders.
• Fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver the Amsterdam Privacy Engineering roadmap across engineering, product, and legal.
• Collaborate with Lisbon and Amsterdam teams on privacy reviews and incident response.
• Develop actionable data privacy policies and monitoring controls.
• Design privacy-preserving product solutions and mentor engineers.
• Lead privacy impact analyses on incidents and validate remediations.
• Scale central privacy systems with automation and data subject rights tooling.
