Job summary

Adyen is seeking a Staff Engineer in Observability to drive the long‑term evolution of our telemetry and monitoring ecosystem. You will bridge telemetry infrastructure, data pipelines, and observability experience, shaping a roadmap focused on Intelligent Observability and Zero-Friction Configuration.

You will lead strategic architecture, scale petabyte-scale data systems, and enable AI-driven diagnostics, while guiding engineers across a global platform.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software, systems, or platform engineering.
• 3+ years in a similar technical leadership role within observability or large-scale distributed data systems.
• Experience designing, scaling, and operating telemetry data engines at multi-petabyte scale.

Responsibilities

• Architect and execute the technical strategy for a unified, global observability platform.
• Lead revamp of petabyte-scale search, logging, and metrics systems.
• Architect APIs and interfaces that connect data foundation to AI agents for real-time diagnostics.
• Deconstruct monolithic monitoring into regional, high-availability architectures.
• Design self-service developer tooling with GitOps and automated schema enforcement.
• Provide high-level technical direction across the observability domain.
• Promote adoption of modern observability standards across Adyen.
