Toku is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to shape the next generation of cloud communications platforms. You will be a senior individual contributor, influence architecture, and mentor other engineers across squads while solving complex distributed-systems challenges.

Based in the Netherlands with a hybrid work model, you will code mainly in Go and Node.js/TypeScript, design scalable APIs, drive platform evolution, and help modernise legacy systems toward a unified, reliable backend that powers

Qualifications

• Staff-level engineering experience with strong architectural influence.
• Hands-on backend engineering with Go/Node.js/TypeScript.
• Experience designing scalable, high-traffic distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Architecture & system design for scalable services.
• Distributed systems & scalability for high-volume APIs.
• Backend engineering with Go/Node.js/TypeScript.
• Legacy modernisation toward unified platform architecture.
• Platform evolution across CCaaS, UCaaS, CPaaS.
• Event-driven system design using Kafka/AWS SQS/RabbitMQ.
• APIs & integrations across internal and external services.
• Cloud engineering in AWS and other clouds.
• Engineering standards, testing, code reviews, documentation.
