Job summary

LyondellBasell is seeking a Senior Manager, Communications EMEI, based in Rotterdam, to lead strategic communications across Europe, the Middle East, and other regions as needed. This role provides senior counsel to business leaders and shapes integrated communications that protect reputation and advance priorities.

The position requires 10+ years in communications, 5+ years managing teams, and fluency in English with Dutch preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of communications experience, with strong writing, verbal and presentation skills.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience managing communications professionals.
• Senior-level corporate communications experience supporting complex, high-profile business initiatives is required.
• Chemical industry or similar experience is preferred.
• Experience in external communications, stakeholder engagement, employee communications, issues management and government relations communications is required.
• Languages English required, Dutch preferred; additional languages a plus.

• Drive alignment across regional and enterprise communications teams on messaging and priorities.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships and lead engagement plans that support business objectives.
• Oversee team programs and processes for standardization and skill development.

The Senior Manager, Communications EMEI leads strategic communications across Europe, the Middle East and other non-US regions as needed, providing senior counsel to business leaders and shaping integrated communications strategies that support business priorities, protect reputation and strengthen stakeholder engagement. The role includes external communications, Government Relations communications with a focus on Europe, and employee communications, across the region.

This position has 1 direct report and reports to the Director, Communications EMEAI and is based in Rotterdam.

A Day in the Life

• Lead integrated communications strategies across EMEI in partnership with regional and global business leaders, aligning enterprise priorities, stakeholder engagement and reputation management;
• Serve as a senior communications advisor on strategic projects, complex issues and high-impact business initiatives across the region;
• Lead External Communications, Government Relations Communications (with particular focus on Europe) and Employee Communications across the region, with particular focus on Europe;
• Provide strategic counsel to leaders on stakeholder engagement, issues management and corporate reputation;
• Ensure crisis readiness in Europe and the Middle East of the Communications function and act as Assistant Public Information Officer on the Crisis Management Team. Additionally, the role will act as alternate Public Information Officer on the Crisis Management Team in the absence of the Director, Communications EMEAI;
• Lead the team, set direction and oversee communications plans, key messages and leadership materials;
• Partner with leadership to navigate complex business situations and deliver communications strategies that support continuity and protect reputation;
• Drive alignment across regional and enterprise communications teams on messaging, priorities and stakeholder activities;
• Build strong stakeholder relationships and lead engagement plans that support business objectives and protect the company’s reputation;
• Oversee team programs and processes aimed at standardization and maintenance of agreed upon levels of service and personal skillsets throughout the regional team.

You Bring This Value

• Master’s Degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or related field – or the equivalent in experience;
• Minimum of 10 years of communications experience, with strong writing, verbal and presentation skills;
• Minimum of 5 years of experience managing communications professionals;
• Senior-level corporate communications experience supporting complex, high-profile business initiatives is required;
• Chemical industry or similar experience is preferred;
• Experience in external communications, stakeholder engagement, employee communications, issues management and government relations communications is required;
• Agency experience is a plus;
• Languages English required, Dutch preferred; additional languages a plus.
