Job summary

European Space Agency is seeking an Optoelectronics Engineer to join the Optoelectronics Section within the Optics, Robotics and Life Sciences Division. The role focuses on developing and characterising photonic subsystems, detectors and lasers for space applications across UV to FIR wavelengths.

The post requires a master’s degree in physics, photonics or related field and at least four years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in physics, photonics, optoelectronics, or related discipline.
• At least four years of relevant professional experience.
• Solid experience in design, development and testing of complex optoelectronics systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical support to ESA projects and studies involving optical atomic clocks, optical frequency combs, lasers and photonic technologies.
• Participate in feasibility studies, project reviews and procurement proposal evaluations.
• Define technology development requirements and work plans for ESA programmes.
