Optical Communications Systems Engineer (Space Applications)

Your Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate communication solutions.
- Evaluate and improve system performance based on SNR, BER, and wavefront error metrics.
- Perform R&D activities related to laser propagation, atmospheric turbulence mitigation, and optical amplifiers.
- Cooperate closely with interdisciplinary teams to advance system functionality.
- Record and interpret experimental data, generate technical documentation, and communicate outcomes to relevant stakeholders.
Your Profile
- Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience in optical communication systems for space applications.
- Familiarity with communication frameworks such as SDA and ESTOL.
- Strong analytical understanding of wavefront errors, SNR, BER, and comprehensive link budget analysis.
- Experience with optical design and simulation software (e.g., Zemax, Code V, MATLAB, Python, or equivalent tools).
