Optical Communications Systems Engineer (Space Applications)

In this position, you will be responsible for the architecture, realization, and optimization of communication links and overall system performance.

Your Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and validate communication solutions.
  • Evaluate and improve system performance based on SNR, BER, and wavefront error metrics.
  • Perform R&D activities related to laser propagation, atmospheric turbulence mitigation, and optical amplifiers.
  • Cooperate closely with interdisciplinary teams to advance system functionality.
  • Record and interpret experimental data, generate technical documentation, and communicate outcomes to relevant stakeholders.
Your Profile
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience in optical communication systems for space applications.
  • Familiarity with communication frameworks such as SDA and ESTOL.
  • Strong analytical understanding of wavefront errors, SNR, BER, and comprehensive link budget analysis.
  • Experience with optical design and simulation software (e.g., Zemax, Code V, MATLAB, Python, or equivalent tools).
