Nobel Recruitment is seeking a Software Project Manager in the Rotterdam area to lead customer implementations from first conversations through go-live, with full ownership of each project.
You will coordinate a small implementation team, migrate data from legacy systems and Excel, connect to HR and payroll, train users online and on site, and manage stakeholders across departments. Expect 3–5 active projects and weekly customer visits, with Tuesdays in the office.
The company is a small software business in the Rotterdam region, with a team of 10-15 people. It has spent more than 20 years building workforce scheduling software for sectors where scheduling runs around the clock: municipalities and safety regions, hospitals and healthcare, and vehicle recovery. In these sectors, staff costs make up 70% to 80% of operating costs, so scheduling directly affects both service and budget.
The software is built in-house and used by around 70 customers, with 100 to 8,000 scheduled employees. Employees can swap shifts and view their schedules without asking a manager each time, and management gains clearer insight into how time is being used. The current roadmap focuses on automating more of the planning work. The company prioritises customer retention and steady, long-term growth rather than hypergrowth.
As Software Project Manager, you will run customer implementations from the first conversations through go-live, with full ownership of your projects. The implementation team comprises two people, and the CEO joins the larger projects. This is a delivery role, not a helpdesk role: routine tickets go to the support desk, and you handle only the complex escalations.
Each project starts with getting to know the customer's departments, then moves department by department through planning and rollout. You coordinate the customer's stakeholders, set up rosters and rules such as overtime, evening and holiday pay, migrate data from legacy systems and Excel, and connect the software to HR and payroll systems. You also guide teams through changes in how they work and train users online and on site. A customer with 100 employees can be live in around two months, while a large hospital rolls out in phases over up to a year. You will typically run 3 to 5 projects at once. After go-live, you stay in contact with your customers and flag where they could use the software more.
You work at the office every Tuesday and flexibly from home on other days, with customer visits about once a week.
