Job summary

Darwin Recruitment is seeking a Site Manager for HV Substations in Winschoten, Netherlands, for a 12-month freelance assignment.

You will coordinate day-to-day construction activities, work with engineering, construction and commissioning teams, and ensure safety and on-schedule handover through to project completion.

The role requires 3-5 years in HV substations or related fields, a background in Electrical or Civil Engineering, and strong planning, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years’ experience in HV substations, power transmission & distribution, utilities, or electrical infrastructure projects.
• Experience coordinating site activities and subcontractors in an EPC or construction environment.
• Solid understanding of HV substation construction, engineering interfaces, and project execution.
• Comfortable managing project documentation, reporting, planning, and progress tracking.
• Working knowledge of HSE and quality requirements on industrial or utility sites.
• Strong communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Background in Electrical or Civil Engineering (degree, diploma, or equivalent).

Project focus

Our client is delivering a major High Voltage substation EPC project as part of a wider grid infrastructure programme. The Site Manager will coordinate day-to-day construction activities on site, working closely with engineering, construction, commissioning, and project teams to keep delivery safe, efficient, and on schedule through to handover.

Key skills and Experience required

• 3-5 years’ experience within HV substations, power transmission & distribution, utilities, or electrical infrastructure projects
