Job summary

Chane is seeking a Shift Supervisor for its Welplaat terminal near the Port of Rotterdam. You will lead a continuous shift team, oversee day-to-day operations, and ensure safety and efficiency in handling liquid bulk products such as oils, fats, and biofuels.

Job description

Are you an experienced operator or supervisor within tank storage, the chemical industry, process operations, or a similar operational environment? Are you ready for a role where you can combine your operational expertise with leading a team and overseeing safety on the terminal? If so, we are looking for you.

For our Welplaat terminal (CTWE), we are looking for a Shift Supervisor. In this role, you will lead a continuous shift team and be responsible for the day-to-day management of the shift. You will maintain overall oversight of the terminal's operational activities and ensure operations are carried out safely and efficiently.

Where will you be working?

Chane provides storage, transshipment, and logistics services for liquid bulk products from multiple terminals in the Port of Rotterdam.

At our Welplaat terminal, you will work with a diverse range of liquid bulk products, including oils, fats, and biofuels. We handle the loading and unloading of seagoing vessels, inland barges, tank trucks, and ISO containers. It is a dynamic environment where, as a Shift Supervisor, you will be involved in a variety of operational processes and situations.

What will you do at Chane?

As a Shift Supervisor, you will lead a continuous shift team and ensure that operational activities are carried out safely and efficiently. You will maintain oversight, set priorities, and make adjustments where necessary.

Your responsibilities include:

• Leading, coaching, and supporting the shift team while contributing to their development;
• Monitoring safety, quality, and the progress of operational activities;
• Coordinating daily operations and aligning priorities and planning;
• Collaborating closely with Maintenance, customers, and external parties;
• Identifying equipment issues, maintenance needs, and opportunities for improvement, and ensuring appropriate follow-up;
• Acting as the first point of contact on the terminal during evening and night shifts when management is not present.

What knowledge and experience do you bring?

• MBO Level 4 working and thinking level or equivalent;
• VAPRO B diploma;
• At least 8 years of relevant experience within tank storage, the chemical industry, process operations, or a similar environment;
• Experience leading or coordinating a team;
• Strong safety awareness and sense of responsibility;
• Decisive, solution-oriented, and able to maintain a clear overview in a dynamic environment;
• Strong communication skills with the ability to positively motivate colleagues;
• Flexible and willing to work in a continuous shift schedule.
