Job summary

TMC is seeking an experienced engineer or technical IT professional to advance toward broader technical ownership within complex IT/OT environments at customer sites in the Netherlands. You will blend hands-on work with increasing responsibility for system integration and solution-level decisions.

You will work with integrated systems where software, IT infrastructure, automation equipment and operational processes must operate reliably, often 24/7.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level education in IT, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or a comparable technical discipline.

Responsibilities

• Support and gradually take ownership of integrated IT/OT solutions running at customer sites
• Develop a system-level understanding across software, infrastructure, automation and operational processes
• Investigate technical incidents and identify root causes across different systems and interfaces
• Translate operational or customer issues into practical technical actions and improvements
• Coordinate with software, infrastructure, automation and operational teams
• Support testing, validation, releases and technical changes
• Assess the impact and risks of technical changes before implementation
• Contribute to stable and reliable environments supporting 24/7 operations
• Support technical documentation, monitoring and continuous system optimization
• Participate in architecture and solution-design discussions as your responsibilities grow

We are looking for an experienced engineer or technical IT professional who wants to take the next step towards broader technical ownership within complex IT/OT environments.

You do not need to be an architect already!

This role can be a good next step for someone coming from system integration, infrastructure, industrial automation, software delivery, testing, application support or technical operations who wants to move beyond one specific technology and develop a broader understanding of complete customer solutions.

About the Role

You will work with integrated systems where software, IT infrastructure, automation equipment and operational processes all need to work together reliably.

These environments support business-critical, often 24/7 operations. This means understanding not only individual technologies, but also how systems communicate, where problems can occur between different components, and how technical changes affect the overall operation.

You will gradually take broader responsibility for the technical solution delivered to customer sites, while working closely with software engineers, infrastructure specialists, operational teams and customers.

The role combines hands-on technical involvement with increasing responsibility for system integration, troubleshooting, technical improvements and solution-level decisions.

Qualifications

Bachelor-level education in IT, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or a comparable technical discipline.

What We Are Looking For

• Around 4-8 years of experience in technical IT and/or OT environments
• Experience in one or more areas such as system integration, infrastructure, automation, testing, software delivery, application support or technical operations
• Experience working with systems where several technologies or applications need to interact
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis skills
• Ability to understand technical details while maintaining an overview of the complete operational environment
• Interest in developing towards broader technical and solution ownership
• Comfortable working with customers and multidisciplinary technical teams
• Willingness to travel approximately 10-20%

Technical Exposure

You do not need experience with everything below. We are particularly interested in candidates who already have exposure to several of these areas and are interested in learning the others:

• System integration, interfaces, APIs, messaging systems or middleware
• WMS, WCS, warehouse automation or other industrial software environments
• PLC, SCADA, barcode scanners, conveyors or other operational technologies
• Servers, databases, networking, virtualization or cybersecurity fundamentals
• Logging, monitoring, SQL or technical troubleshooting tools
• Incident, problem, change or release management
• Testing, deployment, commissioning or operational support of integrated systems

This Role Could Be a Good Next Step If

You Are Currently Working as System Integration Engineer, Application Engineer, Support Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Automation Engineer, Software Integration Engineer, Technical Application Specialist, Deployment Engineer, Test & Integration Engineer, WMS/WCS Engineer or another technical role in an operational environment and you are ready to broaden your responsibilities.
