Job summary

THORIZON is seeking a senior thermal-hydraulics engineer to lead CFD analyses for reactor concepts and support design decisions across components and systems. You will translate complex questions into robust simulations, select appropriate modelling approaches, and drive verification through experiments and external partners.

The role requires deep CFD expertise, multiscale workflows, and programming ability to automate tasks. English fluency is essential, with Amsterdam or Lyon as locations.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, applied mathematics, or related.
• PhD in nuclear engineering, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, numerical methods, or related field is an advantage.
• Around 8 years or more of relevant professional experience in thermal-hydraulics, CFD, reactor engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver thermal-hydraulics analyses supporting reactor and system design decisions.
• Translate questions into CFD models, simulations and analyses.
• Select modelling approaches balancing accuracy, data, and project needs.
• Perform high-quality CFD and system-level studies and assess results.
• Analyse thermal-hydraulic behaviour across reactor design levels.
• Investigate transients and interactions with neutronics.
• Develop computational workflows and validate tools and models.
