Job description

Supply Chain Specialist – International Sourcing & Procurement

Location: Aalsmeer (Amsterdam area), Netherlands | Full-time

Source extraordinary materials from around the world.

At SolidNature, every exceptional project starts with finding the right material.

We work with world-renowned architects, interior designers, artists and luxury brands to create extraordinary spaces and architectural experiences using natural stone. Behind every project is an international network of quarries, suppliers and logistics partners, bringing together exceptional materials from across the globe.

To support our continued growth, we are looking for a commercially driven and highly organized Supply Chain Specialist to strengthen our global sourcing and procurement operations.

This is an opportunity for someone who combines strong negotiation skills, operational excellence and an eye for quality with a passion for materials, architecture and design.

The Role

As Supply Chain Specialist, you will be responsible for sourcing, selecting and purchasing natural stone from suppliers and quarries worldwide.

You will develop and maintain international supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and purchasing conditions, and ensure that materials meet our high standards for quality, aesthetics, cost and delivery.

Beyond sourcing and procurement, you will coordinate international logistics, freight forwarders and customs processes to ensure that materials arrive at the right place, at the right time and within budget.

You will work closely with our Sales, Design, Production and Project Management teams to translate project requirements into effective sourcing and purchasing decisions.

This is not a purely desk-based position. You will regularly interact with international suppliers and travel to quarries, factories and industry events to discover materials, inspect quality and strengthen commercial relationships.

Key Responsibilities
International Sourcing & Supplier Development
  • Identify, evaluate and develop relationships with quarries, manufacturers and natural stone suppliers worldwide.
  • Expand and strengthen our international supplier network across Europe, Asia, South America and other relevant markets.
  • Source natural stone based on specific project requirements, including material characteristics, dimensions, finishes, availability and quality.
  • Evaluate suppliers based on pricing, quality, reliability, production capabilities and delivery performance.
  • Visit international quarries and suppliers to inspect materials, discover new opportunities and develop long-term partnerships.
  • Monitor market developments, material availability and international sourcing opportunities.
Procurement & Commercial Negotiations
  • Manage the purchasing process, from supplier selection and quotations to negotiation, purchase orders and delivery.
  • Negotiate competitive pricing, payment terms, lead times and purchasing conditions.
  • Ensure procurement decisions balance quality, cost, availability and project requirements.
  • Develop long-term supplier partnerships while maintaining strong commercial agreements.
  • Monitor purchasing budgets, supplier performance and procurement costs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve margins, purchasing efficiency and supply chain performance.
International Logistics & Supply Chain Coordination
  • Coordinate international transportation, freight forwarders, customs clearance and shipping documentation.
  • Manage material deliveries from suppliers and quarries to our facilities or project locations.
  • Monitor shipping schedules, lead times and logistics costs.
  • Identify and resolve potential delays, quality issues and supply chain risks.
  • Ensure effective coordination between suppliers, logistics partners and internal departments.
  • Optimize freight arrangements and transportation processes to improve cost efficiency and reliability.
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
  • Maintain accurate supplier, material, purchasing and logistics information in our ERP system.
  • Monitor supplier performance, procurement KPIs, delivery reliability and purchasing efficiency.
  • Analyze sourcing and logistics data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Improve and standardize purchasing, sourcing and supply chain processes.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure materials are sourced and delivered according to project specifications and deadlines.
  • Support the continued professionalization and scalability of our international supply chain.
What You Bring
  • Proven experience in international sourcing, procurement or supply chain management.
  • Experience working with international suppliers, purchasing negotiations and supplier development.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to negotiate favorable purchasing conditions.
  • Experience coordinating international logistics, freight forwarding and customs processes.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, suppliers and priorities simultaneously.
  • An analytical and process-oriented mindset, with confidence working with pricing, budgets, data and KPIs.
  • A proactive, hands-on and solution-oriented approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills.
  • An eye for quality, aesthetics and detail.
  • Affinity with natural materials, architecture, interior design or high-end construction.
  • Experience with ERP systems and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; additional languages are an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for supplier visits, quarry inspections and industry events.

Experience in the natural stone industry is an advantage, but not a requirement. We also welcome candidates from other industries with strong experience in international sourcing, procurement and supplier management.

What matters most is your ability to find the right suppliers, negotiate effectively, manage complex supply chains and ensure that quality, cost and delivery expectations are consistently met.

What We Offer
  • A key role within the international supply chain of a growing design and production company.
  • The opportunity to source extraordinary natural materials from around the world.
  • International travel to quarries, suppliers, factories and industry events.
