Job summary

Huisman in Schiedam is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to drive innovation within our international team. You will work on heavy mechanical systems, from concept through production, with in-house design and turnkey delivery to clients worldwide.

The role emphasizes collaboration across disciplines, strong emphasis on material efficiency, and opportunities for personal development and growth into an all-round senior engineer. English proficiency and EU work eligibility are required.

About The Position Of Senior Structural Engineer

What do we expect of you?

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you play an active role in driving project innovation and further strengthening our Engineering capabilities.

In This Role, You Will Be Responsible For

• defining and safeguarding design assumptions for complex mechanical projects;
• performing FEM modelling and structural calculations for heavy (offshore) systems;
• specifying requirements for purchased components;
• optimising designs with a focus on material efficiency, dimensions and weight, functional lifetime and maintenance;
• supervising and guiding the work of fellow structural engineers.

You Are

You Have

• a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering;
• 5–7 years’ experience as a Senior Structural Engineer within heavy
• mechanical engineering, preferable in the offshore or maritime sector;
• a strong affinity with complex mechanical systems;
• the ability to adapt quickly to new requirements and to prioritise effectively.

Some Practical Things We Need You To Have

• an EU passport/valid work permit for The Netherlands;
• a good command of the English language verbally and in writing.
