Job summary

IMC B.V. is seeking an experienced SRE to join the Data Platform team in Amsterdam. You will design and operate data platforms, improve observability, and build automation to scale services such as HDFS, Kafka and Dremio.

The role emphasizes preventing issues and collaborating across teams in a fast-moving trading-focused environment. The ideal candidate has deep experience with Kafka, Hadoop, Spark, Dremio, Kubernetes, and Python, plus IaC and JVM tuning.

Qualifications

• Experience managing distributed data platforms (Kafka, Hadoop, Spark, Dremio) including installation, debugging and performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience deploying, configuring and orchestrating software on Linux and Kubernetes; strong troubleshooting in both environments.
• Infrastructure as Code experience (Ansible preferred).
• Proficient programming in Python; ability to read/write SQL queries.
• Experience reading Java source and tuning JVMs.
• Familiar with Data Lakehouse tech (Iceberg/Delta Lake) and query engines (Dremio/Presto/Trino).
• Exposure to workflow tools like Airflow or Dagster.
• Proactive mindset; capable of cross-team collaboration with minimal oversight.

• Own reliability of critical services (HDFS, Kafka, Dremio).
