Job summary

Telespazio Belgium, working at ESTEC in the Netherlands, seeks a Senior Human Spaceflight Safety Support Engineer. You will ensure safety requirements across flight and ground segments, review safety plans, and support mission operations and risk assessments. Eligibility for EU security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field is required.
• Strong knowledge of spaceflight safety certification.
• Experience in dependability engineering within human spaceflight domain.
• Familiarity with ECSS and NASA Space Standards and their implementation.
• Proficiency with product assurance tools and methods.

Responsibilities

• Support safety requirements in preparation, development, operations and decommissioning of flight and ground segment hardware and software.
• Review contractor plans, specifications and safety programme efforts.
• Contribute to major milestone design and safety reviews to ensure safe operations.
• Support mission operations during preparation and execution phases (CoFR, hazardous lists, flight rules, anomaly response, sustaining engineering).
• Assist safety assessment of ESA astronauts on crewed missions and coordination with stakeholders.
• Assist certification for rendezvous, docking and future CLDs.
• Monitor safety status and track safety issues, deviations and non-conformances.
• Participate in progress meetings, boards and safety groups.
• Review safety data packs and coordinate inputs for formal acceptance of safety requirements.
• Investigate and report accidents and incidents with potential project impact.
• Support safety audits and risk-informed decision-making.
• Support PRA exercises to verify LOC/LOM requirements.
• Assist Crew Task Analysis and Human Error Analysis.
• Support HITL tests and dependability analyses.
• Support ground operations and launch campaigns as instructed.
• Disseminate lessons learned and deliver safety training.
• Liaise with international partners on safety processes.
• Review and approve operational changes affecting safety.
• Produce weekly activity reports with conclusions and recommendations.
