Job summary

Innovate in the South Rotterdam area is seeking a Senior PLC Programmer with a strong Siemens background to design, test, optimise and Commission software for advanced industrial washing installations used worldwide.

You will work closely with software, electrical and mechanical engineers across the full project lifecycle, from development and testing through on-site commissioning, with international travel as required.

Qualifications

• Experience in PLC programming and industrial automation.
• Proven Siemens S7 control systems experience.
• Knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal and HMI development.
• Experience developing software for machinery or automated systems.
• Experience with commissioning, troubleshooting and optimisation.
• Translate technical requirements into robust software solutions.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical and project teams.
• Structured, quality-focused software development approach.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership.
• Willingness to travel internationally for commissioning.
• English communication; Dutch language helpful.
• An appropriate engineering or software qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain PLC software for Siemens S7 control systems.
• Develop and maintain HMI applications using TIA Portal.
• Test, troubleshoot and optimise control software and machine function.
• Support software-related activities across projects.
• Improve and standardise software structures and functionality.
• Implement data logging, remote-service functions and cloud solutions.
• Provide technical support and assist with fault diagnosis.
• Commission, test and optimise machines on-site internationally.
• Maintain high software quality, reliability and documentation.
• Contribute ideas for ongoing development of machine controls and standards.
