Job summary

AtS&T is seeking a System Engineer - Satellite Communications in the Leiden area for a senior, full-time role within a high-tech engineering team serving the international space sector.

You will work on embedded systems, electronics, firmware, and software across a range of life-cycle activities from proposal support to design coordination, integration, testing and customer reviews. The role demands practical mindset and strong cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• B.Sc./HBO or higher in electronics, embedded systems, telecom, or aerospace.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in system engineering or related high-tech environments.
• Hands-on engineering mindset with close collaboration to technical teams.
• Broad knowledge across hardware, firmware, software, embedded systems, and integration.
• Strong English communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate across multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to work in Europe and EU work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements and translate into system concepts across hardware, firmware, and software.
• Coordinate design across hardware, firmware, software, COTS and test equipment.
• Support technical proposals, feasibility, planning, risks, and development needs.
• Produce system design documentation and test procedures.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders and lead reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR).
• Monitor progress and report to the Project Manager.
• Ensure system meets customer requirements, budget, and feasibility constraints.
• Steer technical alignment across disciplines without micromanaging specialists.
