Job summary

Epassi is seeking a Python Backend Developer to help scale our platform for upcoming migrations. You will identify scaling issues, map customer configurations to system equivalents, and build automation for reliable migrations and growth.

Join a fast-paced team using a modern cloud-native stack (AWS, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL) with REST APIs and CI/CD. Collaborate with Product Owners to deliver high-impact features in a hybrid/remote setup.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Python experience with large codebases.
• Experience with FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
• Strong knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes and PostgreSQL.
• Relational databases and SQL optimization.
• CI/CD pipelines and tools (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, GitLab CI).
• Testing mindset with pytest.
• Proactive, hands-on problem-solving.
• Experience taking projects from design to delivery, including architectural decisions.
• Track record delivering backend projects.
• Good command of written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Proactively map components known to be susceptible to scaling issues and propose effective improvements.
• Analyse customer settings including employees, invoicing, and integrations and map them to new equivalents to inform automation strategies.
• Own the design and implementation of the self-service customer portal backend (REST API).
• Maintain and improve cloud infrastructure, including Kubernetes EKS and PostgreSQL RDS.
• Develop, optimise, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and related tools.
• Integrate with third-party HR APIs to provide seamless data flows.
• Work closely with Product Owners to define, scope, and deliver high-impact features.
• Support internal stakeholders (Customer Success, Operations) to ensure smooth workflows.
• Expand and improve our existing transactional system.
• Design, implement, and maintain backend services and REST APIs that support scale and performance.
