Job summary

• Strong technical English skills, both written and spoken.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to convince, advise, and align stakeholders.
• Systematic thinker with a passion for quality and delivering results.
• Willingness to occasionally visit project locations in the Netherlands and abroad.

As a Senior Project Engineer, you take ownership of the technical content, coordination, and alignment. You ensure that technical requirements are clearly translated, properly challenged and successfully implemented throughout the project. Your work is mainly focused on communication, technical alignment, and stakeholder management. You will coordinate with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal departments to make sure all technical specifications, interfaces, and quality standards are fully understood and met. You know how to bring different disciplines together, keep stakeholders aligned, and create clarity in complex situations.

You start from the sales handover and translate it into a clear and robust execution plan, including work instructions and test plans. From there, you guide the relevant stakeholders and make sure the project is technically well prepared and properly executed. You will review and challenge electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings, while also defining technical requests and specifications for emergency power systems. A major part of the role is ensuring smooth cooperation between Procurement, Engineering, and Commissioning. You keep a sharp eye on the interfaces between these disciplines and make sure that all parties work together effectively. You combine a strong technical understanding with a structured approach, enabling you to manage details while also keeping sight of the overall project objectives.

The projects are dynamic and often demanding, with high expectations from clients and strict reliability targets. This requires flexibility, quick decision-making and the ability to prioritize across multiple projects. You can identify issues early, solve problems efficiently, and make well-considered decisions that help keep projects moving forward.

Although the role is mainly office-based in the Amsterdam area, you may occasionally visit project locations in the Netherlands or abroad together with the responsible Project Manager. These visits are usually focused on technical alignment, inventory, or project coordination.

What do you need

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent level) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• At least 8 years of experience in a technical project-driven environment
