Job summary

Strohm is seeking a Senior Project Buyer to lead the procurement of technical materials and subcontracted work for complex international projects. You will develop sourcing strategies, select suppliers, and manage contracts end-to-end, working with cross-functional teams to align procurement with milestones.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in SCM and 5–10 years of senior buying experience, with strong Dutch/English communication. A hybrid work model is offered with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in SCM or related field and NEVI 2 or equivalent.
• 5–10 years in senior project buying, contract management or senior buying.
• Experience with strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and procurement in EPC/offshore/engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement of technical materials, services and subcontracted work for complex international projects.
• Develop sourcing strategies, select suppliers and manage contracts through project lifecycle.
• Coordinate with Category Management, Sales, Tendering, Engineering and PM to align procurement with milestones.
• Monitor supplier performance, delivery reliability, quality and commitments; take proactive actions.

As our Senior Project Buyer , you'll work at the heart of our international projects, partnering with Category Management, Engineering, Sales, Tendering and Project Management to contract the right suppliers, negotiate the best commercial agreements, and ensure our projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

In this role, you'll take ownership of the entire procurement lifecycle—from sourcing strategy and supplier selection to contract management and performance monitoring . By combining technical insight, commercial acumen, and strong stakeholder management, you'll help create maximum value for our business while building long-term supplier partnerships.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the procurement of technical materials, services, and subcontracted work for complex international projects;
• Develop sourcing strategies, select suppliers, negotiate commercial agreements, and manage contracts throughout the project lifecycle;
• Partner closely with Category Management, Sales, Tendering, Engineering and Project Management to align procurement activities with customer requirements, milestone planning and project objectives;
• Monitor supplier performance, delivery reliability (OTIF), quality, and commercial commitments, taking proactive action where required;
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers while continuously monitoring market developments and identifying new opportunities;
• Drive continuous improvement of procurement processes, develop maturity of procurement and commercial value to maximize business impact and ensure project continuity;
• Lead the procurement of technical materials, services, and subcontracted work for complex international projects.

What you bring:

• A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field;
• NEVI 2, Higher Professional Education (minor) in Procurement Management, or an equivalent procurement qualification;
• 5-10 years of experience as a Senior Project Buyer, Contract Manager or Senior Buyer within a complex technical or project-driven environment;
• Proven experience with strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, contract management, and procurement within EPC, offshore, manufacturing, or engineering industries;
• Knowledge of subsea, offshore, chemical processing, metalworking, or similar technical industries is highly preferred;
• Strong commercial awareness combined with excellent analytical and negotiation skills;
• The ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organization while confidently challenging stakeholders when needed;
• Excellent communication skills and fluency in Dutch and English ; additional languages are an advantage.
