Job summary

Worley is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer for Permitting & Environmental in The Hague, Netherlands. This agency contractor role is a full-time position for approx 12 months with potential to become staff.

You will lead regulatory compliance, permitting and environmental activities across multidisciplinary engineering projects, integrate permitting into early design, and coordinate Dutch permitting processes with authorities. Excellent Dutch and English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical/Environmental Engineering or related field.
• Strong experience in regulatory compliance, permitting, or safety engineering.
• Solid knowledge of environmental legislation and EIA processes.
• Experience embedding regulatory requirements into engineering design.
• Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary international teams.
• Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English.

Responsibilities

• Lead regulatory compliance, permitting and environmental activities across projects.
• Integrate permitting requirements into early design phases to avoid risks.
• Manage Dutch environmental permitting processes, including authority engagement.
• Act as the interface between engineering teams, clients, and regulators.
• Identify permitting risks early and implement practical solutions.
• Support project delivery by managing scope, schedule and budgets for your discipline.
• Contribute to continuous improvement with innovative tools and digital solutions.
