Job summary

Backbase is recruiting a Senior Payroll Specialist to own payroll for the Netherlands, UK, and Spain. You will advise on regulatory matters, collaborate with Finance and HR, and partner with payroll vendors to ensure accurate, compliant runs.

You will thrive in ambiguity, shift from manual to automated processes, and drive scalable payroll operations as Backbase grows internationally.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of payroll experience in senior roles.
• Proficient with Dutch and UK payroll laws and institutions.
• Spanish payroll experience is highly desirable.
• Experience in international, multi-country HR environments.
• Native-level Dutch and fluent English, both written and spoken.
• Experience with multiple payroll systems/providers.

Responsibilities

• Own and oversee payroll for the Netherlands, UK, and Spain, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, compliance, and controls.
• Provide advisory support on payroll regulations, data flow, and vendor coordination.
• Identify opportunities to automate and improve payroll processes and integrations.
• Proactively manage payroll tickets and handle complex or sensitive cases to resolution.
• Maintain up-to-date payroll documentation and procedures.
