Job summary

Airwallex in Amsterdam, NL, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Payments Platform to build scalable, reliable payment infrastructure across markets. You will design and implement new capabilities, develop REST services in a microservices setup, and connect with a React frontend.

The role is hybrid, with three days in the office in Amsterdam. You should have 4+ years in engineering, strong Java/Kotlin, Spring, Kafka, and cloud experience (GCP/AWS), plus Docker/Kubernetes and modern

Qualifications

• 4+ years in modern engineering with CI and quality emphasis.
• Proven from inception to delivery of thoroughly tested solutions.
• Strong CS fundamentals; Java or Kotlin with Spring/Spring Boot.
• REST API design for high-volume distributed systems.
• Kafka plus distributed data stores like Cassandra/Hazelcast/Coherence.
• Cloud experience (GCP or AWS) with EC2/RDS/ELB/CloudFront.
• Docker and Kubernetes expertise.
• Monitoring with New Relic/Datadog/Prometheus.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable payments infrastructure for international use.
• Design and implement capabilities across the payments platform.
• Develop REST services in a backend microservices architecture.
• Collaborate with Payments Product and partner teams.
• Conduct architectural reviews and reduce technical debt.
• Improve operational effectiveness of current solutions.
