GEODIS Benelux in Almere seeks a Senior Operations Manager to lead 2–5 Operations Managers/Supervisors, ensuring inbound/outbound flows, storage and VAS are optimized. You will drive policy, budgeting, and KPI achievement while balancing quality, cost and employee satisfaction.

Responsibilities include ensuring SLA delivery, coordinating cross-site relationships, and reporting to Site Manager. A strong leadership background and logistics education are essential, with fluency in Dutch and English.

Qualifications

• Logistics education at HBO+ level or equivalent by knowledge/experience.
• Knowledge of WMS/TMS logistics systems.
• Experience in budgeting and financial management.
• Strong leadership and coaching skills.
• Fluent in Dutch and English (plus language skills).
• Certificate of Conduct (VOG) or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Promote, monitor, and evaluate operational policy per Site Manager.
• Identify improvements for new logistics methods and procedures.
• Manage overall site operations, including inbound/outbound flows and VAS.
• Deliver services per contract/SLA and monitor KPIs/SLAs.
• Lead and develop employees; ensure staffing and HR processes.
• Monitor safety, quality, and environmental guidelines.

Do you want to build an efficient, safe, and customer-focused logistics operation for a leading fashion client? GEODIS is looking for a Senior Operations Manager to make a daily difference in Almere. You are responsible for the optimal handling of inbound and outbound goods flows, storage, and Value Added Services, ensuring quality, customer, and employee satisfaction. In the absence of the Site Manager, you assume overall responsibility for the site.

Your impact

As Senior Operations Manager, you directly manage 2–5 Operations Managers/Supervisors and oversee operational teams. You uphold operational policies, identify improvement opportunities, steer towards KPIs and SLAs, and maintain a healthy balance between quality, efficiency, cost control, and employee satisfaction.

What will you do?

Policy

• Promote, monitor, and periodically evaluate operational policy as established by the Site Manager

• Identify and formulate improvements for new logistics working methods and procedures

• Implement guidelines after approval from the Site Manager

Budget/Finance

• Operate within departmental budget framework and strive for set ratios

• Weekly reporting to the Site Manager

• Prepare pricing proposals for Value Added Services (VAS)

• Contribute to departmental budgeting and cost control

• Responsible for correct time registration and invoicing

Relationship Management

• Strengthen internal networks with other sites; maintain external relationships with clients and suppliers

• Manage supplier contracts

• Serve as contact person for clients regarding operational matters

Operations

• Deliver services to customers according to contract/SLA

• Set operational objectives and standards

• Ensure efficient planning and administration within operational processes, set priorities

• Monitor processes, work instructions, quality, quantity, and continuity of service

• Participate in multidisciplinary projects as project manager

• Monitor SLAs, intervene/escalate when necessary

Quality

• Achieve quantitative and measurable quality objectives (KPIs)

• Minimize damages

• Responsible for 5S quality methodology within the department

• Maintain order and cleanliness in the workplace

• Report KPIs using Balanced Score Card/Management By Facts

Reporting

• Report financial and operational performance to the Site Manager

• Ensure proper administrative processing in the WMS

• Report on inventory management (accuracy and control of physical/system inventory)

Personnel & Organization

• Lead, coach, evaluate, and develop employees according to procedures and regulations

• Ensure optimal staffing (quality and quantity) together with de dedicated HR business partner

• Facilitate team meetings, selection, onboarding, performance reviews, and development

• Report deviations (accidents, near misses)

• Responsible for correct time registration and personnel planning

Safety

• Comply with safety guidelines and regulations

• Ensure safety of employees and visitors

• Identify hazardous situations and propose improvements

Quality, Safety & Environment

• Act in accordance with STS-QSE policy (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 22000)

• Adhere to procedures and guidelines as set out in the QSE management system

Profile & Requirements

• Logistics education at bachelor (HBO+) level or equivalent by knowledge/experience

• Additional logistics training

• Sound knowledge of logistics automation systems (WMS/TMS)

• Experience with financial management and budgeting

• Knowledge of administrative processes

• Strong leadership and coaching skills

• Social skills, persuasiveness, and negotiation ability

• Analytical ability and vision to translate policy into practice

• Fluent in Dutch and English (additional foreign language is a plus)

• In possession of a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) or willing to obtain one
