Job summary

Another Star is seeking a Senior Operational Risk & Compliance Specialist in Leiden. The role drives safety, security, and risk-management standards across the global hotel portfolio, with emphasis on the US market.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the global Operational Risk & Compliance strategy, acting as SME.
• Promote global Safety & Security processes and SOPs for long-term resilience.
• Lead regional Health & Safety Manuals for US codes and regulations.
• Co-lead external safety partners in the US and oversee audits and risk assessments.
• Represent Operations and support the BCM program globally.
• Own the CCTV policy with privacy and safety compliance.
• Coordinate Insurance Risk Engineering inspections and follow-up actions.
• Contribute to safety processes for new US hotel openings.
• Optimize Food, Fire, and Workplace Safety within the global framework.
• Prepare analytics and strategic reports for senior management.

Purpose - Senior operational risk & compliance specialist

As part of the central services team, you will drive Another Star's efforts to achieve world-class compliance in the domains of Health, Safety, Security & Risk Management. This includes researching, strategizing, and implementing best-in-class practices aimed at creating a safe environment for our employees and guests.

In this role, you will lead the rollout and maintenance of the Another Star Safety & Security framework globally, with a particular focus on the US market. Mentoring and guiding a specialist, you will oversee gap analyses and enforce citizenM standards for Fire, Food, and Workplace Safety. The ultimate objective of your role is to fortify the resilience of our hotel operations and elevate guest and employee satisfaction across all compliance domains.

We are looking for an experienced, high-impact safety/security professional who thrives on operational risk management, strategic workstreams, and cross-functional leadership. As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in this domain, you will regularly collaborate with senior leaders across multiple functions within the Support Office, including Operations, Legal, HR, Facility Management, and Food & Beverage.

Your primary focus will be our US hotel portfolio and will include collaborating closely with our US teams. This involves adapting your schedule to US East Coast hours approximately two days a week to ensure seamless collaboration with regional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner closely with the Global Head of Risk & Control to define and execute the global Operational Risk & Compliance strategy, acting as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME).
• Continuously improve, innovate, and promote global Safety & Security processes and SOPs to enhance the long-term resilience of hotel operations.
• Spear(initiate) head the development and rollout of regionalized versions of Health & Safety Manuals specifically tailored to US codes and regulations.
• Co-Lead external safety and security partners in the US to ensure rigorous implementation of the operational-compliance framework, and oversee regular audits and operational risk assessments to proactively adapt to changing operational needs.
• Represent Operations and champion the Another Star Business Continuity Management (BCM) program globally.
• Hold global ownership of the corporate CCTV policy, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and safety standards.
• Support Another Star’s Head of Insurance by coordinating, planning, and executing Insurance Risk Engineering inspections, as well as managing the subsequent follow-up actions.
• Involved in establishing robust safety and security processes for new hotel openings across the US.
• Optimize Food Safety, Fire Safety, and Workplace Safety management to maintain a unified global framework with necessary local variations; ensure all documentation, requirements, and incidents are meticulously logged using our compliance software.
• Prepare and deliver advanced analytics, statistics, and strategic reports to update senior management on safety and security performance.

Locations / hours

This position will be mainly based in Leiden, the Netherlands. Working hours: Monday to Friday. This is a hybrid role, not fully remote.
