Job summary

Latitude is seeking a Senior ML Engineer to be based in the Netherlands, owning end-to-end ML initiatives in a high-impact healthcare environment. You will design agentic LLM systems with tool use and retrieval, while building robust evaluation frameworks and production-grade pipelines.

You will collaborate with Product, Clinical, and Engineering teams, translate clinical needs into technical solutions, and mentor peers to raise engineering standards across the organization.

Qualifications

• Proven experience shipping production ML systems used by real users or customers.
• Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based systems with prompting, retrieval, and tool calling.
• Strong evaluation expertise with datasets, testing frameworks, and measuring meaningful improvements.
• Strong foundations in ML and selecting approaches based on requirements, evidence and trade-offs.
• Experience turning ambiguous problems into reliable production solutions.
• Strong software engineering skills for distributed systems and production code.
• Clear communication with technical and clinical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated AI fluency with practical enterprise usage.
• Experience with RLHF or DPO is a plus.
• Healthcare AI or high-stakes domain experience is advantageous.
• Experience building agent frameworks or evaluation tooling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own ML projects end-to-end from problem exploration to deployment, monitoring and iteration.
• Design and build agentic LLM systems with tool use, retrieval, and orchestration for high-stakes environments.
• Develop robust evaluation strategies, datasets, offline/online testing harnesses and human review pipelines.
• Improve model performance via prompt engineering, retrieval optimization, distillation, fine-tuning or related techniques.
• Collaborate with Product, Clinical, and Engineering stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions.
• Review code, share knowledge, and mentor engineers to raise engineering standards.
• Explore AI methods to improve productivity, team workflows, and product quality.
