Job summary

Lonza in Stein, Switzerland, is seeking a MES specialist to translate manufacturing specs into digital workflows on the shop floor. You will configure MES recipes, collaborate with multiple teams, and develop and maintain MES capabilities using TypeScript to ensure data integrity and quality compliance.

This fully site-based role emphasizes hands-on programming, GMP-regulated manufacturing know-how, and proactive process improvement across interfaces with SAP, LIMS, and automation platforms.

Qualifications

• Proven MES experience in configuration, development or programming, not just end-user.
• Solid GMP manufacturing understanding and ability to translate production to digital solutions.
• Hands-on programming in any modern language with interest in manufacturing apps.
• Fluent English for global cross-functional collaboration.
• Advantage: German language skills or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Configure and continuously optimize MES recipes by translating manufacturing specifications into digital production workflows and batch records used on the shop floor.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Process Owners, Automation, and IT/OT teams to ensure seamless MES integration with SAP, LIMS, and automation platforms.
• Develop, test, and maintain MES functionalities using TypeScript to ensure reliable process execution, data integrity, and compliance with quality standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, data flows, and system interfaces to drive efficiency and automation across manufacturing operations.
• Provide MES SME support by assisting production, troubleshooting system issues, and contributing to MES evolution.
